Modernist Makeover

A couple with a passion for contemporary photography desired a remodeling and expansion of their 1960s brick bungalow. Excessive millwork and extravagantly decorated rooms were replaced with sophisticated, simplified living spaces.

The vaulted entrance foyer with striped limestone flooring leads to a new family room lined with French doors opening onto a rear terrace. Evoking a soft, refined minimalism, the enlarged upper level features a vaulted, light-filled master bedroom with an adjacent sitting room.

A modernist aesthetic inspired the lean lines of a coffered beam ceiling while elegant rectilinear paneling lends a spacious air to the expanded sitting room. The graceful proportions and clean lines of the interior highlight the patron’s photography collection.
